Mikkel is an expert in the field of sustainable consumption and production (SCP). His key expertise lies in analysing challenges in consumption and production patterns and identifying opportunities for change focusing on policies within the SCP framework as well as the role of businesses in SCP. Examples of Mikkel’s current work includes development of sustainable development and SCP indicator sets, mapping SCP-related policies, analysing the role of retailers in SCP as well as application of SCP in Asia. 

Prior to his current position at CRI, Mikkel worked for five years on different environmental projects in an interdisciplinary and international context. Mikkel’s experience from previous positions includes employment in civil society, research and business and he has carried out projects in Europe, Africa and Asia. He has thus significant experience working with the link between environment and development.

In his latest position, Mikkel worked as environmental manager at A.P. Moller – Maersk and was responsible for the establishment and implementation of corporate environmental policies, strategies, and action plans throughout the Maersk Container Business organisation (35,000+ employees).

Mikkel holds a MSc in Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.

Mikkel is a Danish national.
